Indochine

Graham Greene would be right at home in Indochine 1929. This elegant, Vietnamese restaurant boasts wicker chairs, fans and ferns evoking the ambience of Vietnam during the French colonial era. The romantic atmosphere is further heightened by the presence of wooden shutters, old prints and fringed lampshades – all this in the centre of Hong Kong’s hottest party district, Lan Kwai Fong.

Indochine 1929 prides itself on being a place where you can feel at home - but not many homes serve up such an impressive Vietnamese feast. Popular dishes include the Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crabs, Beef Tenderloin with Tomato and the Shredded Chicken Salad. Other must-tries include the Fried Fish Hanoi Style, the Traditional Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Hot and Sour Fish Soup and the Grilled Rare Beef Salad. This fusion of flavours is complemented with a wide range of French and international wines and a selection of tropical cocktails.

City Guide

Hong Kong has long been known as “The Pearl of the Orient” but, in recent years, it has developed a reputation as Asia’s “World City”. Its booming economy attracts big spenders who demand the best in dining, partying and – of course – retail. But it’s not all modern glitz and glamour. Much of the city’s charm lies in the juxtaposition of glass and steel skyscrapers next to old colonial buildings and ancient temples. Hong Kong also boasts a strong spiritual connection – you’ll find the world’s largest outdoor seated Buddha standing guard on the mountains of Lantau and Taoist deities at Wong Tai Sin Temple.
