Tapeo Sai Wan Ho

Lei King Wan combines the edginess of SoHo with the chilled out feel of Stanley or Sai Kung and Tapeo is perhaps one of the best places to enjoy this underrated area of Hong Kong. With a prime waterfront location, this open-plan restaurant specialises in authentic Spanish tapas.

Offering set lunches in addition to a la carte, the menu features Spanish favourites including marinated olives, ham croquetas, grilled chicken with truffle aioli and, of course, classic Spanish tortilla. One of the best dishes is the stuffed red pepper with pork and veal while fans of spicier flavours will appreciate the sautéed prawns with garlic and paprika – the paprika lends a nice edge to this traditional dish. Desserts are just as good and those with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed. Try the crème brûlée with a hint of orange or the churros and chocolate, a warm and not-too-sweet dessert that’s as divine as it sounds.

Tapeo is the perfect spot for weekend brunch or a relaxed, laid back dinner with friends.

Hong Kong

City Guide

Hong Kong has long been known as “The Pearl of the Orient” but, in recent years, it has developed a reputation as Asia’s “World City”. Its booming economy attracts big spenders who demand the best in dining, partying and – of course – retail. But it’s not all modern glitz and glamour. Much of the city’s charm lies in the juxtaposition of glass and steel skyscrapers next to old colonial buildings and ancient temples. Hong Kong also boasts a strong spiritual connection – you’ll find the world’s largest outdoor seated Buddha standing guard on the mountains of Lantau and Taoist deities at Wong Tai Sin Temple.
