Riffin’ at the Griffin

One of the serious perks about working at Quintessentially is taking out potential members and showing them why they should join. Last weekend I took out a client to The Griffin in the Meatpacking District. We had an amazing night, the music was fantastic, the crowd was gorgeous- the club is frequented by an eclectic mix of celebrities, artists and designers, and we found it a great place to indulge in some serious people watching.

Inspired by the late 19th century, the interior is filled with velvet sofas, gilded tables and antique mirrors, and this beautiful upscale cocktail lounge is dominated by a huge glittering chandelier. Guests can enjoy a sophisticated night out, and enjoy the impeccable service. The champagne (and tequila shots) flowed freely, danced all night and are now preparing ourselves for the next big night out- New Year’s Eve: it promises to be a brilliant night of fun.

Incidentally whilst at The Griffin, I bumped into the former owner of Bijoux, an old personal favorite which closed before the summer. He is about to launch a sexy new lounge in the Hotel Gansevoort called Provocateur, as well as another PM lounge in February. The nightlife scene in New York looks set to improve still further- watch out 2009 hotspots, your days may be numbered.

A chic Beverly Hills soiree

Recently, the LA office of Quintessentially hosted a cocktail party for members and friends at the newly remodeled Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills.  At what was formerly Blue On Blue restaurant, famed interior designer Kelly Wearstler has recently transformed the restaurant and poolside lounge into a fresh sea of blues and greens, and rechristened it Oliverio. New Executive Chef Mirko Paderno now showcases “Italian food with a regional flair,” utilizing meats from California, as well as seasonal ingredients from the hotel’s own rooftop garden. The relaxed California patio atmosphere, encased within bamboo trees and floor to ceiling glass windows, created the perfect setting for our chic gathering.

Guests enjoyed the specially created Quintessentially Blue cocktail – a special version of a mai-tai – and nibbled on Chef Mirko’s modern Italian canapés.  The cocktail coincidentally matched the sparkling blue water of the pool, the rich blue décor of the restaurant, and the blue covers of our current Quintessentially Magazine. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves while socializing and mingling in the swanky setting and we hope to see you at the next one!

A memorable night at the Salmagundi

Recently, Quintessentially joined forces with SOS Children’s Villages and the W.H Patterson Gallery for a private viewing of a magnificent collection of oils and watercolours. The proceeds from the night’s events went to SOS Children’s Villages, the world’s largest charity dedicated to providing a safe and bright environment for orphaned and abandoned children.

At 7 pm guests wandered into The Salmagundi Club, a lovely mid-nineteenth century building housing works of fine art, where they perused paintings that ranged from Venetian landscapes to realist still life. As a piano played softly in the background, guests nibbled on canapés, sipped on drinks and mingled with fellow art connoisseurs. Martin Taylor, one of the featured artists, was spotted having a lively discussion about his method-painting with one of our fellow Quintessentially members. To wrap up the evening, the President of the Salmagundi Club raffled off Clive McCartney’s picturesque oil painting of Bryant Park to one of our lucky guests. A truly special event, for a truly wonderful cause.
