Art: Picasso Exhibition, Vienna
On Wednesday, 22nd September, the outstanding Pablo Picasso exhibition entitled ‘Peace and Freedom’ opens for a period of four months. The exhibition, held at the renowned Albertina museum, concentrates on Picasso’s work from 1944 until his death in 1973.
During the cold war, the world-famous artist painted, drew and lithographed the famous image of the white dove, which turned into a global symbol of freedom. Picasso is shown as a political figure through fifty paintings and one hundred drawings, as well as numerous historical documents presented in the exhibition halls. This exhibition has been curated by Tate Liverpool, with the Albertina acting as a co-organizer.
The Albertina will extend its opening hours for this major autumn show, so that the exhibition will be accessible from 10 am to 7 pm from Thursday to Tuesday and from 10 am to 9 pm on Wednesdays. Tickets cost 9.50 EUR for adults; children under 19 years old go free.
