What? Reindeer Petting In Covent Garden & Reindeer Lodge at London Zoo
When? From now until January 2012
As part of Christmas in Covent Garden (think massive Christmas tree on West Piazza, giant red baubles and festoon lighting illuminating the market arches), Saturdays see Santa's trusty sledge-pullers touchdown for ever-popular, reindeer-petting sessions. Then, at London Zoo, Rudolph, Dancer, Prancer and Blitzen will be taking a daily walk, passing 70 penguins and Santa himself along the way.
What? Stretch their imaginations with Matilda The Musical & The Railway Children
When? Until January 2012
Ages 6+
Roald Dahl's riotous children's novel is set to songs provided by superstar Aussie comedian Tim Minchin, whilst Lionel Jeffries's film of E Nesbit's story is one of the greatest ever made for children – the stage version making charming use of two platforms and a railway line belonging to the old Eurostar terminal, an adaptation at once spirited, inventive and magical.
